A funeral mass took place April 29 at Sts. Joseph and Michael Church for Clara Veronica Chiesa, 91. She passed away April 26 at Compassionate Care Hospice Jersey City. Born in Union City, she was a lifelong resident. A 1936 graduate of Emerson High School and later Gibbs Secretarial College, she began her career as a bookkeeper on Wall Street and culminated after 25 years with Combustion Oil Company, retiring in 1970. She loved the Jersey Shore and had a home in Wall Township. An avid lover of the arts, she attended numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, operas and was a subscriber with the New York Philharmonic for most of her life. This attribute was passed to her sons and granddaughters. Clara was predeceased by her husband Flavio and her parents, Charles and Ida Zoccola. Surviving to cherish her memory are her two sons, Lt. Col Charles Chiesa, USAF, retired with wife Lauri, and Richard Chiesa; and granddaughters: Gina Marie and Kristen Chiesa. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
