JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said detectives have identified the burned, dead body of a Jersey City man found Tuesday afternoon.
DeFazio said the body found under the East Linden Avenue Bridge in the city’s Greenville section is that of William Smith Jr. 42, of Lembeck Avenue in Jersey City.
DeFazio had no permanent home, with the Lembeck Avenue address his last known residence.
DeFazio said the body, discovered by a passenger riding the light rail that runs near the bridge, was found lying face down with a gasoline can nearby.
DeFazio said cause of death still being investigated.
