Former Hoboken Mayor Cammarano pleads guilty

HOBOKEN AND BEYOND – Former Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, who was arrested in last July’s FBI corruption sting operation and charged with taking $25,000 in illegal campaign contributions, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Newark.
The political corruption sting resulted in the arrests of 44 officials last summer.
Cammarano took office last July 1 but was arrested later that month for allegedly accepting money for a government informant posing as a developer. He resigned a week later.
Cammarano will be sentenced on Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. He may also have to make restitution for the money and pay fines.
