Dear Editor:
My name is John Madigan. I am a lifelong resident of Hoboken. I am married and the father of two sons. My youngest son attends Wallace School and the oldest is a freshman at Saint Peters Prep High. I have volunteered countless hours to help our children. Through my many years of volunteering, I know firsthand how Hoboken Public school students are amazingly unique. As parents we should praise our children’s strengths and accomplishments and encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe that parents are the key to “Quality Education.” I would encourage every parent to take an active and supportive role in his or her child’s teachers to ensure their child’s success in education. One way that we can show our teachers that we stand behind them, and appreciate them.
If I were fortunate enough to be elected to the Hoboken Board of Education, I would be extremely honored. I would work hard to ensure that each and every child is given the same opportunities. My main concern it to do what is best for our children.
I will not let programs be cut that will hurt the children of the Hoboken School system, including Hoboken Charter Schools.
I am on the Hoboken Little League Board of Directors for the past 3 years and coach for 7 years, Hoboken Soccer League Directors for the past 7 years, many years of running basketball leagues for the Hoboken youth. All volunteer for the children of Hoboken.
John Madigan
