Strong Schools = Strong Community

Dear Editor:
I’m Leon Gold and I am running for the Board of Education because I believe improving our school system will lead to a stronger Hoboken; property values will rise and the quality of life will improve for both young and old.
A little about myself, I moved to Hoboken in 1976 and received my PhD at Stevens. I have worked at both Bell Laboratories, the New York Stock Exchange and have consulted in the fields of course development, test & measurements and personnel selection. Most importantly (for the board position) I have taught for the past 30 years; the last 20 as an adjunct professor at Columbia University.
I believe my business experience and role as an educator will complement the great work that Kids First is doing to reduce our budget and improve our schools. I know that few things are as important as the education of your children and the financial health of our community. Unfortunately, there are no magic solutions to improving our schools; just hard and meticulous work. The only thing I can promise is that I will always be available and that I will listen.
On April 20th please vote for Jean Maire Mitchell 1B, Leon Gold 1A, Irene Sobolov 2A, and Rose Markle 4A for the Board of Education and let Kids First continue their progress.

Thank-you,
Leon Gold
