On Saturday, February 20, 2010 Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the City of Hoboken celebrated Black History Month and the Richard Hicks 12th Annual Black Youth Empowerment Luncheon in Hoboken. Richard Hicks was a man with a dream and a vision and was a determined man full of wisdom and understanding. His goal was to empower youth to better avenues in life and this 12th annual ceremony was held in honor of his untiring work for the youth of the community.
Two representatives from the National Society of Black Engineers of Stevens Tech and Hudson County Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant and Minister Alfred Crawford spoke to encourage youth by stories of their lives and how all youth must keep striving for excellence.
