Funeral services were held April 10 at Berean Baptist Church, Newark, for Larue Booker Sr. He was born in Jersey City to Sadie and the late Maynard Booker. Larue was raised in Washington, Ga. He graduated from Washington Central High School. Soon after he returned to Jersey City he began a 38 year career at the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2008. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Sadie Booker, and his lifelong companion of 37 years, Mary Temple. He was the father of Jaqueline Toussiant, Marlon Temple Sr., Larue Jr. and Lashawanda Booker; the brother of Lorraine Washington and Georgia Gresham; the grandfather of Sarah, Diondra, Tyquanice, Teyrance, Marlon Jr., Mariah and Alyssa, and the best friend of Dermot “Tony” Buchanan.
