Response to “Shame on you”

To the Editor:
In response to the letter “Shame on you,” that appeared in your March 31st issue, may I say “shame on you” Shirley F.
You say Mr. and Mrs. Chiappone were not proven innocent yet. Did you forget this is America, where a person (in this case persons) are innocent until proven guilty. Your letter sounded mean-spirited which might account for the fact that you did not give your last name.
You even referred to Mr. Chiappone as a “phony.” None of us are perfect and that includes Mr. Chiappone, who to my knowledge has done a lot of good for Bayonne, which should not be forgotten.
In closing, it surprised me your letter was published given the fact you did not give your last name.
