Funeral mass was offered April 7 at St. Anne R.C. Church, Jersey City, for Erle R. Height. He died peacefully at the Compassionate Care Hospice at the Atrium on April 3. Erle was born in New York City and was a lifetime Jersey City resident. He was the son of the late Edith (nee Simmons) and Albert Height. Erle worked for the Hudson County Sheriff Department as a detective for 37 years, retiring in 2003. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran from 1952 to 1958. He belonged to the Blue Knights of NJ, F.O.P Lodge 336 of Hudson County, P.B.A. Chapter 600 and the Honor Legion of N J. He was the husband of Marie D. Height, and the brother of Lina Richardson, Emmy Lou Spackey, William, George, Albert Height and the late Alberta. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and his beloved pets Fendi, Buttons and Puff. He was the godfather of Lisa Winters. Services arranged by the Houghton Funeral Home, Jersey City.
