To the Editor:
On Saturday, March 20, 2010, the Hudson County Animal League presented plaques of appreciation to Bayonne Police Officer Gene Urbanowicz and his K-9 partner, Willie, and Jersey City Police Officer Louis Mecka and his K-9 partner, Froto, at the Chandlier Restaurant. Both officers gracefully accepted their plaques, and their K-9 partners had no problem accepting their baskets of doggie goodies along with their new collars and numerous photo sessions.
After the presentation, the officers permitted the attendees to meet the dogs, which was more of a treat for the humans than the canines.
We want to acknowledge and thank them for their bravery and courage in these trying times and for taking time out of their hectic schedules to be with us that evening.
