Anastasia’s Accessories, a Hoboken fixture for over two decades, is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year with a unique event, and hoping to get support from fellow merchants.
“Particularly in these tricky financial times, we feel so fortunate to be celebrating such a milestone,” said Beth Pelberg, manager of the boutique. “As our way of showing our gratitude for our good fortune, we have decided to celebrate in a way that ‘gives back’.”
On the weekend of April 17 and 18 the store will host a fundraising event with the proceeds going to the Mt. Sinai Breast Health Resource Program.
“This is a wonderful organization dedicated to meeting the emotional and practical needs of women and men with breast cancer,” Pelberg said.
The program offers information, guidance, and critical support to patients, from diagnosis through survivorship. Patients coping with a breast cancer diagnosis must gather treatment information, evaluate treatment options and outcomes, and may have to make life-altering decisions in a pressured and limited time frame. Having non-judgmental and informed professionals at TheBHRP to help guide them through the process is crucial.
“We are honored to have had the chance to be a part of so many lives here in Hoboken for the past 21 years and are very excited to share our good fortune through raising money for such a wonderful cause,” said store owner Anastasia Kamper. “We are so grateful and look forward to celebrating another 21 years!”
The event will feature a weekend of champagne and light fare with 5 per cent of net sales going to the BHRP. The store will accept straight monetary donations and also have merchandise available for sale from vendors that directly donate to various cancer organizations.
In addition to this, the store would like to host a “raffle” for gifts, so they are asking fellow merchants in Hoboken to donate items or services with a value of approximately $100.
They will sell tickets that clients can use to bid on each item. The total proceeds from the sale of the tickets will go to the BHRP. All of the raffle items will be on display and signed with the name of the business that has donated it. Anastasia’s will also name the businesses in its publicity surrounding the event.
“We hope this will be advantageous to all,” Pelberg said. “We have a way to raise additional funds for the organization and you (fellow merchants] have a way to get your name out to our list of over 3,000 clients.”
