The Gang Resistance Education And Training (GREAT) Program conducted a graduation ceremony on January 20, 2010 at the Franklin L. Williams Middle School #7 in Jersey City. The GREAT Program is comprised of law enforcement from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Office, Jersey City Police Department and the Hudson County Department of Corrections. This unique partnership has been recognized and commended by officials from municipal, state, county and federal levels. This most worthy program involves the youth of the city with positive life skills and will help them avoid engaging in gang involvement and violent behavior. The agencies become one in working together, using a community approach to combat the risk factors associated with youth involvement in gang related behaviors.
