A funeral mass took place March 19 at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City, for Ida Clayborne, 67. She died March 12 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. A lifelong Jersey City resident, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Thomas Clayborne, Sr. She worked as a crossing guard for Jersey City for seven years; her last post was at the corner of Culver and West Side Avenue before retiring in 2003. Prior to that, she worked for Western Electric Co., Kearny, and Royal Insurance Co., New York City. She was the mother of attorney Joyce Clayborne, Esq. and sister of Thomas, Jr., Albert, William Joseph Clayborne and the late Mary Swain, Alice Dorsey, Robert, Samuel, Joseph, James, Glendora, Moses and Sampson Clayborne, Gloria Anderson and Lillie Mae Carter.
