Special lawyer will review Hoboken hospital finances; privatization discussed

HOBOKEN — At last night’s meeting of the municipal board overseeing Hoboken University Medical Center, the expected fireworks didn’t happen, but there were some rumblings.
The board hired a special attorney to review the hospital’s finances, an additional level of oversight for the facility. And Mayor Dawn Zimmer was there to suggest the idea of possible privatization, as many would rather the hospital be funded by a private company than by the city of Hoboken.
