PESIN, EDWARD

Funeral services were held March 8 for Edward Pesin, 85, of North Bergen. He died peacefully on March 6. He was born in Jersey City to Libby and Samuel Pesin. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II, he received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, a law degree from Harvard Law School, and Masters of Law in taxation from NYU. He practiced law in New Jersey and New York for over fifty years and was regarded as a leading taxation expert in federal, estate, probate, and corporate law. As chairman of the Committee on Federal Taxation of the NJ Bar Association, he was responsible for the passage of the Professional Service Corporation Act in 1963, for which he was thereafter affectionately called NJ’s “father of the professional corporation.” He will be remembered for his astute mind, compassion for those in need, leadership role in many civic, professional and charitable organizations, and above all, his deep love for his family. He was the husband of 57 years of Helene; father of Samuel (Donna) Pesin and the late Ella Pesin, and grandfather to Elyssa (Jeff) Kotzen, Jennifer Pesin, and Libby Bergier-Pesin, brother of Ada (Philippe) Feyerick and uncle to six nieces and nephews.
