Union City man arrested for crack-cocaine

UNION CITY AND JERSEY CITY — Hudson County Prosecutor Edward J. De Fazio announced Wednesday the arrest of Victor M. Arias-Lorenzo on first degree narcotics charges. Arias-Lorenzo, age 33, was arrested on March 4 after a month long investigation by the Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force that included search warrants at Arias-Lorenzo’s residence on 12th Street in Union City and a “stash” location at 228 Hancock Ave. in Jersey City.
The search at 228 Hancock Ave. resulted in the seizure of over 80 grams of crack/cocaine along with paraphernalia used to package and store cocaine, as well as materials used to convert cocaine into crack-cocaine.
A search of Arias-Lorenzo’s residence in Union City, NJ, resulted in the seizure of over $20,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.
Arias-Lorenzo was also found to allegedly be in possession of over 35grams of crack-cocaine and over $1,300 in cash at the time of his arrest, bringing the total drug seizure to over 115 grams.
Arias-Lorenzo was charged with one first degree count of Maintaining or Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility; two second degree counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance; two third degree counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance while within 1000 feet of a school; and two second degree counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance while within 500 feet of public property.
Bail for Arias-Lorenzo was initially set at $250,000. The first-degree charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in state prison. The second-degree charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.
