BARRETT, MICHAEL J

Funeral mass was held Feb. 22 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Jersey City, for former deputy mayor of Jersey City Michael J. Barrett, 75. He died Feb. 18 at home. Born in Jersey City, he was a life long resident. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a self employed florist and travel agent in Jersey City. Mickey served as deputy mayor of Jersey City from 1989 to 1991. He was the director of Department of Public Works Jersey City and Commissioner of Jersey City Redevelopment Committee. He was the chairman of Hudson County Democrats for Reagan in 1980. He was a member of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 266, both of Jersey City and Order of Alhambra El Jarrow Caravan 154, Bayonne. He was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and John Barrett, and his brother Patrick Barrett. Surviving are his sisters, Annamarie Barrett and Agnes Balasco Barrett; his brother Francis Barrett and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
