Family, community mourn loss of Marcos Gorra

NORTH BERGEN – At the North Bergen Board of Education’s Feb. 24 Meeting, Mayor and Assistant Superintendent Nicholas Sacco announced that a 2006 North Bergen High School alumnus, Marcos Gorra, was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Sacco said it was a “horrifying situation.” Superintendent Robert Dandorph said that Garro was due to come home next month.
The district was notified this past Monday through Gorro’s girlfriend, whose father works for the Board of Education.
“He really was an amazing kid,” said Dandorph. “He was sweet, smart.”
According to Gorro’s Facebook.com account, he was serving the 82nd Airborne Division and had lived in South Korea from December of 2006 through December of 2007. – Tricia Tirella
