NB resident, two juveniles arrested for pot

A North Bergen detective was patrolling the area of 6100 Meadowview Ave. on Feb. 5 when he witnessed a 20-year-old and two teens allegedly in possession of marijuana, said Cannella.
Cannella said that the detective witnessed two juveniles, 16 and 17, both of North Bergen, reach into a parked car and hand a bag believed to contain marijuana to the driver.
When the detective approached the car he saw the bag and arrested Christopher Lutz, 20, of Grand Avenue along with the two teens, and charged them with possession of marijuana.
He said that Lutz was “known” to the police department.

Friend steals laptop from sleeping victim

Cannella said that police responded to a burglary on Feb. 2 at Colombia Avenue after a victim stated that his Toshiba laptop, valued around $500, and $300 in cash was taken from his residence.
“There were a lot of valuables left behind, which we find peculiar,” said Cannella. “No visible signs of forced entry.”
Cannella said that while the inside bedroom door was forced open; the door to the apartment unit was locked.
After investigating the incident, Kelvin Delarosa, 19, became a person of interest. He allegedly was in the victim’s unit while he slept, police said.
Delerosa lives at the same address in a different apartment unit.
“When he came into [police] headquarters he confessed,” said Cannella, who said that the suspect allegedly confessed to selling the laptop at a pawn shop in Union City.
However, police have not been able to locate the laptop, Cannella said.
Delarosa was charged with burglary and theft and released on a $2,500 bond.
