Funeral services took place Feb. 8 for Herman H. Bolte, 89, of Whiting, NJ and North Branch, NY. He passed away Feb. 4 at home. He was born and raised in Union City. Mr. Bolte was the Chief of Police of the Union City Police Department for 20 years and was a member of the NJ State Association of Chief of Police and the PBA. He was a pilot and attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 27 in Union City. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn, in 1990. He is survived by his second wife, Mary; one son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Gail Bolte of Augusta, NJ; one daughter, Lynne Wedeen of Marlton, NJ; four grandchildren, Nicole, Rachel, Brad and Tamsen; and four great-grandchildren, Serena, Antonio, Paulina and Alyssa. Services arranged by the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
