SWAT lieutenant suspended without pay
Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced on Friday that Hoboken Police Lt. Angelo Andriani is suspended without pay following reports that Andriani was detained by the Tampa International Airport Police Department on Monday, Jan. 18 after he was allegedly involved in a “passenger causing a disturbance” incident.
Andriani allegedly showed Tampa police his Hoboken police identification and badge during the detainment.
He was already suspended with pay following various administrative charges for possible misconduct. The SWAT team has since disbanded and Andriani is facing termination. His administrative hearing is almost complete, according to a source.
Police Chief Anthony Falco said officers on suspension are required to turn in their ID, badge, and weapon when they start suspension.
Zimmer said the Hoboken’s Internal Affairs Bureau is conducting a separate investigation of the Tampa incident.
Zimmer called on all parties to expedite the legal process involving the outstanding SWAT investigation.
Haiti benefit at Maxwell’s
On Sunday, Jan. 31, the city of Hoboken is teaming up with Maxwell’s, WFMU, and The Guitar Bar for a Hoboken for Haiti Relief concert at Maxwell’s, 1039 Washington St.
The suggested minimum donation is $10 or $20 per family.
Checks should be made out to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. The city strongly urges attendees to bring checks in lieu of cash.
The concert will be in two parts, with a family event from 2 to 4 p.m. and an evening event from 5:30 to 11 p.m.
The afternoon event features performances by students from Be Vocal music school, Garden Street children’s choir, Puppetonia, Big Jeff & the Bouncy People, and The Fuzzy Lemons.
The evening portion features performances by Glenn Mercer of The Feelies, Schocholautte, Smokey’s Round-Up, Sputnik, Shrubs, Dakota Davenport & Dan McLoughlin, Abbe Rivers, Jennifer Lampert, and more.
Hoboken for Haiti will also offer raffles, a 50/50, silent bid auctions, and more.

New exhibit at Museum
The Hoboken Historical Museum invites resident to attend their opening reception on Sunday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 5 p.m. to celebrate their new exhibit, “Surveying the World: Keuffel & Esser and Hoboken, 1870 – 1968.”
The exhibit showcases the former Hoboken-based manufacturer of fine surveying instruments, telescopes, and other engineering tools used in polar expeditions and to create landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge.
The exhibit has a few interesting surprises, according to museum officials, such as the story of the “spider ranch” that was housed at K&E’s Third and Adams streets factory for over 50 years.
Also debuting is a new Upper Gallery exhibit, “Hoboken Light and Geometry: A Selection of Photographs by Peter Ziebel.”

Happy Hour group events
The Hoboken Happy Hour Group is hosting a Pre-Valentines Flip Cup and Beer Pong Singles Event.
The event includes a raffle with prizes and giveaways from local Hoboken businesses. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross for Haiti relief.
The event is on Friday, Feb. 5 at Lounge 11, 505 Madison St., from 7 to 11 p.m.
The event is $10 per person, which includes one raffle ticket.
Drink specials include $1 power hour from 10 to 11 p.m. and $10 Coors Light pitchers all night.
