North Bergen employee retires as allegations come forth

NORTH BERGEN — According to North Bergen Township officials, a male town employee who was mentioned on Wednesday as having been involved in a minor texting scandal with a female employee resigned on the same day.
The man was identified in a local online publication Wednesday as having been accused of trading suggestive messages with the female employee.
“The Township of North Bergen takes this matter very seriously and has been conducting an intensive investigation since certain issues were brought to our attention last week,” said Township Spokesperson Philip Swibinski on Thursday as he announced the retirement. “The investigation is continuing. When it is completed, appropriate action will be taken. … The township has no further comment on [the male employee’s] decision to retire.”
