HOBOKEN AND JERSEY CITY — Former Hoboken Municipal Court Judge Kimberly Glatt, who resigned in October to run for mayor (and came in fourth), got some criticism during the race because a house her family owned was in foreclosure, while she had just moved into a pricey condo at the top of the new W Hotel. Some wondered why she was able to buy a million-dollar home if she couldn’t keep up payments on the other property.
This past August, HSBC Bank was involved in a legal hearing with Glatt and Glatt’s sister Stephanie related to foreclosure proceedings on a $999,900 loan for a house at 910 Castle Point Terrace in Hoboken.
When questioned about it, Glatt and her spokeswoman said it was her mother’s house that she was trying to help with.
At the time, she said, “There are thousands of Hoboken residents who are working hard every day to make ends meet during these difficult times. They can know with absolute certainty that I can relate to their problems.”
Anyway, the new condo that was the subject of so much fuss got photographed for a photo essay in the mag on New Jersey views. The story includes five photos of Glatt’s home. It also quotes her on the benefits of living in a motel. It says the one thing she splurges on is room service: “We live on it. Often we order three meals a day.”
The magazine accidentally says it was built by “Allied Development Company” rather than Applied. Oops!
The next page talks about a condo with a view, this one (of course) in Jersey City. Does Hudson County represent, or what? This one one in the Beacon and belongs to Aidan McManus, Gloria Gussie, and their three English bulldogs. (The bulldogs split the bills.) The Beacon is the property build on the site of the former Jersey City Medical Center.
