Save Hoboken’s artists from the developers

Dear Editor:
Your profile of Paul Vincent Studio (PVS) was a great opportunity to see what people are doing to keep creativity alive in Hoboken. I had the pleasure of meeting the PVS crew during their art openings and figure drawing sessions and have been amazed at the dedication and hard work they put forward to create a social venue and expressive outlet for artists and musicians in the area. By putting together group shows and events they’ve brought a little more heart and soul to the city I moved to as an artist in 1995.
Unfortunately, the space they occupy is in the line of sight of developers and City Council.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer worked as a photographer herself, so I hope she and the council understand the value of cultural venues like Paul Vincent Studio and the surrounding artist spaces and workshops. We must find ways to keep these important additions to our city alive and thriving.
