HUDSON COUNTY – Well, it’s not a political indictment, but to some people, the spotting of a rare bird is major news. We just got this alert from the NJ Meadowlands Commission, based in Lyndhurst and not far from Secaucus:
A rare Northern Shrike has been seen on Disposal Road sporadically for the past four days. The bird, the size of a mockingbird, has been seen in the morning and late afternoon.
We will be posting updates on the meadowlands nature blog – meadowblog.net…
I will be out at the Carillon from roughly noon to 1 p.m. looking for the bird if you’d like to try for a look… Spotting scopes are a good idea…
Thanks
