Dear Editor:
We would like to thank Hoboken Schools interim Superintendent Peter Carter for participating in the forum we organized Wednesday night for parents of children in the school district to ask questions and get information about what’s going on in our school system.
Mr. Carter spent a lot of time answering questions and was very frank and upfront in his answers, and the forum was very productive. We would also like to thank the many other officials who came out to participate and help make the event such a success, including state Assemblyman Ruben Ramos Jr., Hudson County Freeholder Anthony Romano, newly appointed Fourth Ward Councilman Michael Lenz, at-large City Councilman David Mello and Hoboken Housing Authority Commissioner Jake Stuiver. We appreciate all of them taking an active role in our community and helping facilitate a successful conversation between parents and their school district superintendent.
Finally, we wish to thank all of the residents who attended the meeting, without whom, it would not have been possible. A good number of people came and asked excellent questions and expressed their heartfelt concerns, providing for a fruitful and candid dialogue. We look forward to hosting more productive forums in the future. Thanks also to Mayor Dawn Zimmer for supporting the event and helping make it possible.
Sincerely,
Kyelia Colon and Sandra Smith
