JERSEY CITY — Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Glen Gabert announced today that the College has received official notice that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education unconditionally reaffirmed the College’s accreditation, and removed a warning notice that was issued last year.
Middle States Commission Chair Michael F. Middaugh, Ed.D. sent a letter to the College informing that at its session on Nov. 19, the Commission acted to “remove the warning and reaffirm accreditation.” The Commission also thanked the College for receiving its representatives and accepted the monitoring report.
Last summer HCCC filed a report detailing the steps that were taken to address the concerns identified by the Commission’s accreditation team during their 2008 visit. At that time, the Commission’s team recognized and applauded the College’s extraordinary work and growth, noting that the College had met or exceeded thirteen of the fourteen evaluation standards.
“This is very good news,” Dr. Gabert said. He continued: “However, we want to underscore that throughout the entire reaffirmation process, the College remained accredited by the Middle States Commission and the Commission consistently certified the high quality of the College’s academic and student support programs, the qualifications and dedication of faculty and staff, and the soundness of our fiscal management.”
