Funeral mass was offered Nov. 4 at St. Barnabas Church, Bayville, for Gerald “Jerry’” Costanza, 81. He died Oct. 31. Born and lived all his life in Jersey City, he moved to Bayville 18 years ago. Mr. Costanza was a Jersey City fireman, assigned mostly to Fire Truck # 6, with 25 years of service before retiring in 1985. He also owned and operated the Barrell Tavern in Jersey City for many years. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a life member and past officer of the VWF Post # 9503 of Berkeley Township. Jerry was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Virginia in 2006. Surviving are three sons, Jerry and his wife Maureen, Larry and his wife Elizabeth and Gary and his wife Debra; two brothers, Frank and Robert; five grandchildren, Kerri Lynn Zucaro and her husband Greg, Jerry, Christina, Michael and Juliana; and one great-granddaughter, Vienna.
