HOBOKEN — The Hoboken City Clerk released election results Wednesday, not including provisional ballots, or ballots cast under question. For instance, if a voter’s name did not appear in the voting rolls, the voter would submit a provisional ballot that would not count until they were officially confirmed as a registered voter.
A bunch of write-in votes were cast, some for people in town and others for the rich and famous (or animated).
Local celebrity Artie Lange won the most write-ins, with eight votes for mayor.
He was followed by former mayoral candidate Tom Vincent with two votes, and several celebs with one vote: rocker Bruce Springsteen, rapper Lil’ Kim, county star Dolly Parton, Disney’s Goofy, and the unknown “McCheese,” according to Jerry Lore from the City Clerks office.
Local tenant advocates Mary Ondrejka and Cheryl Fallick received two votes each for state Assembly, a race in which Ruben Ramos of Hoboken and Caridad Rodriguez of West New York won another term.
Donna Antonucci, a local watchdog known to criticize the former administration, and Democratic Committee Co-Chairperson Ann Graham also received two votes for Assembly.
Tenant advocate Dan Tumpson received one vote, one less than the two write-ins who commented on the attractiveness of Hudson County Board of Elections clerk Michael Harper.
“Michael Harper is hot” received two votes for state Assembly, Lore said.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker and State Senate president Richard Codey (D-Essex) won one write-in vote each for lieutenant governor, as did Mickey Mouse.
Local conspiracy theorist Jeff Boss and actor Bruce Willis both garnered one vote each for County Surrogate. — TJC
