A funeral service was held Oct. 27 for Evangelina Menendez, 90, of Union City, the mother of U.S. Senator Robert Menendez. She passed away Oct. 23. She came from Cuba to the United States where she lived in New York City for many years before coming to Union City. She worked for several years as a seamstress in the Hoboken area, though her primary life was that of wife and mother. She was the wife of the late Mario; also the mother of Reinaldo Menendez and Caridad Gonzalez; the grandmother of Ronald Gonzalez, Rochelle Menedez, Alicia Menendez, and Robert J. Menendez, and great grandmother of Erika and Alexander. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
