A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 26 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for Frank Leonardis, 89. He passed away Oct. 22, at Compassionate Care Hospice at the Atrium, Jersey City, after a brief illness. Born in Newark, he lived most of his life in Jersey City. He was a devoted husband of 52 years to the late Nancy Leonardis (DeMarco, 2004). Frank was once employed with Valentine Signs in Newark, retiring many years ago. Frank was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army from 1942-1944, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Group of both Holy Rosary Church and Our Lady of Mercy Church in Jersey City. He was the father of Dolores Manocchio and her husband Anthony, and the late Alfred Zappala; the grandfather of Todd Manocchio and Holly Gaare and of four great-granddaughters, and the brother of Marie Marusiak and the late Anne Mainiero.
