Doing something

Dear Editor:
Here’s my “doing something”, forwarding you all a copy of my letter to Michael Moore….enjoy, and catch the movie when you get a chance.
Hey Mike! I just caught the very last showing of Capitalism: A Love Story at my local theater and I have to say it strums a harmonious chord with my heart! It’s a call to action indeed and I’m fired up! I went to see the movie alone, first time in my life I’ve ever done that, not even my wife would go with me. And being alone, (actually there were 13 people in theater total, including the couple that split 15 minutes into the movie), brought forth an experience symbolic to our America. Symbolic because as I left the theater and was driving home, I was… well… enraged! Your movie’s intended affect I know! The factual content of the movie plus (and if I may quote you Mike) “…and we let this happen to us…” had me flip-flopping all the way home!
But how does one take the next step? We can each do our part for ourselves easily, -you know, quit smoking, write a letter, whatever; but just how do we get others involved? After all, there I was, all alone. Well, we were alone… all 12 of us; you, me, and the other 10 “groovy in-tune” people.
Soon after Obama becoming elected, I said I’ve got a lot of love for this guy, but a good friend said, “I’ll be happier when Obama’s merits become his deeds”. And with the recent buzz about the peace prize, I hear a lot of that same sentiment again. And here’s where we fail. We fail to expand upon the fact that even Obama himself has said “I don’t deserve this award”. Connect that to what he said in regards to him becoming President, which was, “I can’t do this alone”, and we get the bigger picture. Obama hasn’t become our President, he was ELECTED.
Now let’s ALL make our merits become our deeds and help him earn that Noble “PP”! But just how do we get the general population to get back up, off their couches (the few that still have couches) and get back to stirring the soup? Far too many, I believe, have switched back to their reality TV, fancy (unclunkered) cars and VCR’s! How do we get the “on demand” button to work on our America? Thanks for your time and quality work.
P.S. Got a tune that goes great with all this, called “Do It Now”, give it your ear at www.myspace.com/georgeinhulsen. Feel free to use it, I just ask you give the band props. I would hate to have Michael Moore stealing my tune and monopolizing all of rock ‘n roll, bringing Congress down to it’s knees by legalizing pot to bailout the failing music industry! HA! Love ya’ Mike! If you write back, I’ll be humbled.
