Dear Editor:
When Dawn Zimmer became Mayor, I said to myself maybe, just maybe, things will get back on track. I was not a Zimmer supporter, but after the nightmare of Peter Cammarano’s arrest, I was hopeful. And I am a homeowner here in town, so Dawn’s promise to deliver a budget quickly and cut our outrageously high taxes, had me crossing my fingers that everything would finally be okay.
Boy, was I ever wrong. The budget that she promised is nowhere to be found. I’ve looked everywhere for it, and I just don’t see it. Where is it, Dawn? And those tax cuts seem to have evaporated in the crisp Fall air. Where did they go? I hear some people saying that Dawn “just needs time”, but she’s had enough time already, and as far as I am concerned, she just hasn’t delivered. We’re in a crisis, but Dawn seems to think that the business as usual approach of Dave Roberts, where we spend and spend and spend under “temporary” appropriations, is just fine. Doesn’t she understand? That’s the approach that got us into trouble in the first place? When she made those great campaign promises, did she really intend to keep them? Or are we stuck with high taxes and excessive spending forever?
Election Day is coming shortly. When I go into the voting booth, I am going to keep these questions in mind. You should, too. And I hope you come to the same answer that I have: we need Beth Mason to be mayor. Beth has been fighting for taxpayers since Day 1, and from now on, I want her to keep doing so from the Mayor’s office.
Yours truly,
Bob DuVal
