Resident says Zimmer never called him back about open position

HOBOKEN — A Hoboken resident named David who posts on the Hoboken Tax Revolt website said yesterday that he applied this summer for the open Public Information Officer job at Hoboken City Hall, but Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer never followed up. David said that this was hypocritical, as Zimmer has announced that she will seek resumes for city positions rather than relying on cronies, as past administrations may have done.
Some say she has still hired cronies (see the cover story in this weekend’s Reporter for that and other political notes), but others dispute this.
David says that Zimmer called him personally before Labor Day weekend to see if he was interested, then never called back after that.
David writes:

3. Several email exchanges later and a call from Dawn Herself gave me hope.
4. Spoke to Dawn about setting up a interview.
5. NEVER HEARD BACK AND THE POSITION IS REMOVED FROM THE WEBSITE.
6. I EMAILED ONE LAST TIME, STATING THAT I WAS CONSIDERING WORKING FOR A CAMPAIGN AND DID NOT WANT HIS TO INTERFERE WITH THE PROCESS.
NOT EVEN A CALL BACK!!! OPEN GOVERNMENT-I DON’T THINK SO!

Zimmer supporters on the site (who are numerous) pointed out that David is working for Frank Raia’s mayoral campaign.
After a few more responses, someone wrote to David, “Maybe she doesn’t want a Public Information officer who doesn’t know the difference between your and you’re, and who doesn’t know where to place commas. Your post is all about sour grapes–dude.”
Oh, snap!
Another responder suggested: “One possibility: Zimmer may have decided to suspend the hire until after Nov. 3rd, for any number of reasons, considering her time now is divided between governing and campaigning.”
