PEREZ, MARIA

A funeral mass took place Oct. 13 at St. Bridget’s Church, Jersey City, for Maria Perez. She passed away Oct. 8 at the Compassionate Care Hospice, Jersey City. Born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, Maria and her husband Sebastian relocated to the Bronx in 1952 and later moved to Jersey City in 1959. Maria worked as a seamstress while she and Sebastian were raising their family. Matriarch of her family, she gave loving support and encouragement to family members and friends and they, in turn, bestowed her with loving reverence and affection. Her legacy to her family is the example of strength and determination in the face of difficulty. Through all her suffering, she delighted always in having her family around her. Maria was predeceased by her husband Sebastian. She is survived by her sons, Julio and Wilfredo Perez; her daughters, Elba Perez-Cinciarelli and Carmen Musarra, and she was predeceased by her sons, Juan and Ricarte Perez. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Services arranged by the A. Scatuorchio and Son Funeral Home, Jersey City.
