“Soaking rain, wet snow, coastal wind and tidal flooding will persist over portions of the East into Monday as a nor’easter churns up the Northeastern Seaboard. One unusual aspect of this early fall storm continues to be the unusual chill, which has begat record early snowfall in a small swathe of the central Appalachians.
Coastal flooding stoked by the coincidence of onshore winds and the normally high tidal range based upon the lunar cycle will threaten low-lying areas from the New Jersey coast through the coast of Maine. Tides will run 1, 2 and even 3 feet above normal, creating significant flooding and stranding motorists in some areas.
The storm will whip up strong winds at the coast and over nearshore waters. Gusts of 30-40 mph will happen often.
