The Desfiel Y Festival Ecuatoriano of New Jersey named Hudson County Sheriff Juan M. Perez as the “Man of the Year”. The Sheriff attended the banquet in Secaucus on Friday, August 7, 2009 and the parade on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Jersey City.
