A funeral mass took place Oct. 16 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Secaucus, for Derek A. Lagos, 13 years old. He passed away Oct. 12. Derek attended Secaucus Middle School and was accepted to St. Peter’s Prep. In July of this year Derek completed the HAP program at St. Peter’s Prep and was to become a tutor for the 2010 year. Derek walked away from the HAP program with a soccer trophy and also an academic medal. Derek played for the Secaucus Recreational Basketball Team and was awarded the 2007 MVP. Derek loved soccer and basketball. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the son of Walter and Ingrid Lagos; the brother of Justin Restrepo; the nephew of Janette and Frank Mirabelli, and the cousin of Camille and Natalie Canosa. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
