Construction to reduce flooding is in progress

Dear Editor:
As residents of the City of Hoboken know, during heavy rain storms, there is reason to become worried about the prospect of severe flooding which threatens local homes, cars and other property. Having worked with federal, state, county and municipal officials along with the North Hudson Sewerage Authority during the past two years, I am pleased to report progress with regard to the alleviation of flooding in the City of Hoboken.
Recently, Hudson County approved an easement along Observer Highway in the City of Hoboken which will allow for the progress of an underground wet weather pump station, which will be constructed to reduce flooding. Construction is projected to begin in January of 2010 and continue for eighteen to twenty-four months.
This project is important as my office has received multiple requests from residents who are seeking relief from this very serious problem. During the coming months, I look forward to continued progress on this very important project to ensure that the needs of residents are addressed.
In closing, I encourage constituents to contact my office if we may be of assistance in answering inquires related to the pace of this endeavor or other pertinent matters.

Sincerely,
Ruben J. Ramos, Jr.
Assemblyman
