Community meeting to discuss T-Mobile antennas

Want to find out more about how and why T-Mobile puts up wireless antennas on buildings?
An informational meeting will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Mary McLeod Bethune Center, 140 Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City.
In particular, there will be discussion of T-Mobile’s application to the Jersey Planning Board to place six wireless antennas on the roof of a building on 207-209 Martin Luther King Drive.
At the previous Planning Board meeting on Sept. 22, the application was placed on the agenda for a vote but was pulled to allow for the community to learn more about the placing of the six wireless antennas. Usually, a developer or other entity with an application to be heard by the Planning Board will work with the board to contact residents living in close proximity to the location to inform them of the public hearing.
A letter sent out to the community about the meeting by Celestine Shaw and Flander Brunson, residents living near 207-209 Martin Luther King Drive, expressed concerns about the antennas that “something like this” could expose the public to radiation and other illnesses. – RK
