A funeral mass was celebrated Sept. 19 at St. John the Baptist Church for James M. Sullivan, 79. He passed away Sept. 16 at the Atrium at Hamilton Park Health Care Center in Jersey City after a long illness. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. Jim worked for over 35 years as a butcher for A&P Supermarkets. He was born in Union City, and lived in Hoboken and Jersey City for most of his life. Jim was a devoted Mets and Notre Dame fan. He was the son of the late John and Mary, originally of Ireland. He was the father of Maureen, his special caretaker; Kevin of Connecticut, Lawrence of Bayonne, and Michael of Garfield; the grandfather of Michael Sullivan, of Garfield; the brother of Mary Topolewski of Westfield; the special uncle of Keri A. Linder of Scotch Plains, and James D. Topolewski of Kenilworth; the great-uncle of Brianna and Joey Linder; the friend of Lillian Hora and pal of Buddy the Dog.
