Funeral services have been held for Philip J. Smith, 60, of North Bergen. He passed away peacefully on Sept. 18 at Hackensack Hospital. Born in Teaneck, Philip resided in West New York and North Bergen. A kind and generous man, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He graduated St. Joseph’s High School, West New York and attended N.Y. School of Visual Arts. He was an excellent painter and photographer and enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors. He worked at Schlesingers Clothing Store for twenty years and later established his own business, Smith Cleaning Services, which he ran for over ten years. Surviving are his sister Karen Smith and her husband Sasha Benjamin, New York City; his brother Thomas Smith and his wife Gayle Henkin of Hightstown; his brother James Smith, Ocean; his niece Courtney Smith, New York City; his nephew Nathaniel Smith, New York City; his step-mother Muriel Smith, West New York; three step-brothers and their spouses, Joseph and Debbie Roscitt of Fort Lee, Richard and Michelle Roscitt of Virginia and Paul and Camille Roscitt of Fort Lee. He was predeceased by his mother Marie Smith, father Charles Smith, brother Charles Smith and step-mother Margaret Smith, all of West New York.
