Man allegedly mugged at gunpoint before 9 p.m.

A Union City man reported to Weehawken Police that at 50 Liberty Place at 8:55 p.m. on Sept. 16, he was allegedly robbed at gunpoint.
The victim had just hopped off a bus at Liberty Place and Boulevard East and was walking westward when he noticed a man with a black scarf around his neck approaching him as he reached Potter and Liberty Place.
The victim said that the man followed him as he crossed Potter Place. Police reports say “he then felt someone touch him and demand money.”
The victim states that as he turned around he saw the alleged thief’s face was covered by the black scarf. The man allegedly pointed a black handgun toward the victim, who then gave him his money. Police had no information on how much money was allegedly taken.
The alleged thief fled the scene. He was described as a short black male of thin build wearing a baggy black hoodie and black pants. The description was broadcast over the Statewide Police Emergency Network (SPEN).
Moments later, the Union City Police Department notified the Weehawken Police Department that they had just made an arrest from an alleged armed robbery.
The man was transported to Union City police headquarters where he identified the suspect they had in custody as the one who had allegedly robbed him earlier. A warrant was issued for Kevin Felder of Jersey City for robbery and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Felder is also facing charges by Union City police.

Tourist’s $5,600 video camera stolen

A Swedish tourist reported that his Panasonic video camera was stolen from the lobby of a hotel in Lincoln Harbor. He told police that the used camera is valued at $5,600. The incident took place on Sept. 23 at 11:20 a.m. The camera was not found. Police say hotel security continues to investigate the matter.

The perv and the passerby

A female told police on Sept. 21 that at 10 a.m., while walking her dog by Arricale Field, the athletic field near the Pathmark Shopping Center, a suspicious-looking male walked past her. She claims he then walked back while smoking a cigarette. At the dead end of Nesbit Street, he allegedly dropped his shorts and exposed his genitals to her.
No arrest was made, and police say they were unable to find other witnesses to the incident.

Two alleged shoplifters struck on same night

Pathmark supermarket security caught two alleged shoplifters attempting to steal merchandise from their store.
On Sept. 16 at 11:55 p.m., an individual known to be homeless was suspected of allegedly taking eight meat products from the store without paying for them. He allegedly ran from the store in the direction of Union City. The man was reported to be wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, and glasses. But he was not caught by police after they searched the area to look for the suspect.
The second incident occurred almost one hour later, at 12:51 a.m., when Odalis Rojas of West New York was arrested for shoplifting for allegedly taking $138.14 worth of merchandise from the store. The complaint was made by store security. Rojas was processed and released.
