“Friend”

Dear Editor:
In a world where negatives seem so overwhelmingly prevalent in our everyday lives, the positive forces in our society seem to take a backseat. One such positive force is a man I have known for the past forty-seven years, Mr. Wayne Cook. I met Wayne at West New York’s Public School Number Five in our Kindergarten class and have been his friend ever since. Wayne offers old fashioned, true blue friendship, offering a heaping barrel full of loyalty and helpfulness to everyone who crosses his path. He is always seen at every town function, volunteering his time and talents to the people of West New York. Be it helping dish up Holiday cheer to Senior Citizens, offering a gesture of kindness to the Special Needs population, shoveling his neighbor’s snow-filled sidewalk, making sure his ill friends get to the doctor or hospital if need be, or cheering on his beloved Memorial High School sports teams, Wayne does so with great pride and love for West New York and its’ people. This often places Wayne in a precarious situation since many would think these gestures of goodness to be self-serving, I assure you, this is not the case with Wayne. Wayne’s generosity and good neighbor policies come straight from his heart. He is, and always has been a faithful town servant and friend to every town resident. How wonderful to know such a great man and have the pleasure to call him “friend.”

Sincerely,
Joseph Cinque
