BARTOSZEK, KAZIMNIESZ

A funeral mass took place Sept. 12 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Secaucus, for Kazimniesz (Charles) Bartoszek. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sept. 9, his 94th birthday, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Charlie was born and raised in Jersey City, the son of Rose and Albin Bartoszek, formerly from Poland. He enlisted into the Army Air Force in 1942. He was stationed overseas in London as an airplane and engine mechanic with the 55th Fighter Goup-38th Fighter Squadron. He received battle stars for Air Offensive Europe and other ETO campaigns. He received the Distinguished Unit Badge and Oak Leaf Cluster. After returning to civilian life he joined the ILA lLocal 1247 and worked as a longshoreman in Jersey City and later at the Bayonne Naval yard. He met the love of his life, Regina Grutkowsky and they were married in 1950. In 1959, he and Regina moved their family to Secaucus. Throughout his life he was always generous to his immediate and large extended family. His door was always open and his home was always filled with the sounds of laughter, music on the radio and a Yankee game in the background. He leaves behind his sons: Bob of Edison, Jeff and wife Patty of Morganville; his daughters, Janice and husband Jerry Cannito of Ridgewood, Maryann and husband Frank Duffy of North Arlington, Gail and husband Greg Menist of Edgewater, and his grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Bartoszek, Stacy Bartoszek, Christopher Cannito and Ryan and Connor Duffy. He also leaves five great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his wife Regina; his brother Jerry; his sisters Laura (Monczewski), Mary, Lucille (Novoshelski) and Doris. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
