Thank you for the honor

To the Editor:
I would like to thank the Mackin Society, the scouts of Bayonne, my wonderful family, and all those loving friends who supported, encouraged and prayed for me over the many years I have worked with kids from New England to New Mexico. Wherever I traveled, no matter what the project was, whatever I needed the scouts of Bayonne would see to it that I got it. Just one or two letters to my Bayonne friends, and I would receive what I needed in the next mailing. People I worked with would be astonished over the fact that people all the way from Bayonne would respond and help me with my need.
Sometimes they would bring them in person. One time, while working in a violent area of Boston, a car with Jersey plates pulled up in front of my office. I ran out to see who it was, as out of town people could have problems in that area. They were from Bayonne with a carload of stuff for my program. When the residents heard they were looking for me, they let them know where I could be found.
Just think about it for a moment, I am being honored for things they have helped make happen. My family and my Bayonne scouting friends have molded me into what I have become and now they want to honor me for that. I find that so amazing, but that’s Bayonne for you. I will accept the award gladly, but it will be for all of us – the scouts, my family, and all those supportive loving people from Bayonne.
If anyone wants to celebrate with us, please call the Mackin Society at (201) 437-9502. I really would like to see you again. Thanks.
