Dear Editor:
Perhaps, amidst the Hoboken hubbub this past month, you were walking around uptown and happened upon the Uptown Farmer’s market, held every Thursday, 3-7:30 p.m. on Hudson St. between 13th and 14th St. It seems to be what many uptown residents have been waiting for and it will continue through mid-November.
There are 5 vendors, all members of the NJ Council of Farmers and Communities, including 2 local farmers, a pickle guy, Hoboken Farms and a bakery from Montclair whose marketing technique centers around lots of free samples.
Thanks to everyone involved so far, including the 5th Ward Councilman, Peter Cunningham for spearheading the effort, Helen Manogue, John Branciforte and JD Capuano and the Quality of Life Coalition for sponsoring our effort, the City’s Environmental Dept. workers. And let’s not forget all the volunteers.
So come and sample the locale food (the corn and the peaches are particularly tasty lately), support our local small businesses, and join the volunteer team to help spread the word and hand out flyers. Email hobokenfarmersmarket1@gmail.com if you want to help.
