MCCAULEY, WILLIAM J

A mass of Christian burial was held Sept 2 at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Jersey City, for William J. McCauley, 78. He passed away Aug. 27 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. A native and lifelong resident of Jersey City, Bill attended Lincoln High School before joining the Army in 1948. He was a member of the famous “Lost Battalion” in the Korean War. After returning from military service in 1952, Bill worked as a bus driver for Coast City Coaches in Bradley Beach for 10 years. He then worked for Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken, retiring in 1992. Until 2003, Bill drove a school bus for Jersey City Public Schools. He was a member of VFW Post 2226 in Oakhurst, and the American Legion Junction Post 338 in Jersey City. Bill was predeceased by his wife Mary; a brother, John; and a sister, Helen Hojnacki. He is survived by his son, Brandon; a brother, Joseph and his wife Faith; a sister, Marge Moorhouse; many nephews and nieces, and dear friends Stephan and Jodi Drennan. Services arranged by the Evergreen Funeral Home, Jersey City.
