BUCCAFUSCO, DOMINICK A

A funeral mass was offered Aug. 27 at St. Nicholas Church for Dominick A. Buccafusco, 86, affectionately known as “Bucky” to his friends. He passed away Aug. 22 at Palisade General Hospital, North Bergen. Dominick was born in Jersey City and was a lifelong resident. He was a supervising engineer for Western Electric in Kearny, retiring after 45 years of service and was a longtime parishioner of St. Nicholas Church in Jersey City. A veteran of World War II, Dominick served in the U.S. Army as part of the 102nd Engineer Corp. While the Air Force was on the “Liberty Ship” named SS Hannis Taylor to Okinawa, Japan, he was transferred to the 8th Air Force ground crew. He was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. Dominick remained active as a member of the General Joseph Wheeler Post No. 62, as well as a member of the Paterson Street Senior Citizens Association where he served as dance instructor. He is survived by his wife, Rose (Coratti) Buccafusco and children, Dr. Jerry Buccafusco and wife Regina, John Buccafusco, Rosanne Farrell and Dom Buccafusco, Jr. and wife Sharon. He was the grandfather of Edward Farrell, Jillian Duchensky, Christopher, Martin, Morgan Lynn, Adam and Amy Buccafusco. Dominick is also survived by his sisters, Anna Celauro, Angelina Scerbo and Antoinette DiNardo and brothers, Salvatore and Anthony and was predeceased by Vincent, Victoria, Mary, Philomena and Joseph Buccafusco. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
