‘Stop by and say hello’

To the Editor:
The Bayonne Quilt Club will be having its first Quilt Show and Food Drive on Sept. 19 at the Bayonne Library and we invite the public to come and see the beautiful quilts made by our members. We especially invite our special friends and supporters who have donated fabric and sewing supplies, as we could not exist without your generosity.
For those of you who are not familiar with our group, we meet weekly to sew quilts that are all donated to charity. Since fabric is quite expensive, we could not afford to do this without the donation of fabric, sewing machines and supplies from the public. Most of our donations are from ladies who no longer sew or their families. We are, in essence, a “green” organization that transforms unwanted fabrics into beautiful and warm quilts that are then donated back to the community.
Also, never wanting to waste fabric, we have made reusable tote bags from heavier fabrics and will be distributing them to show attendees who donate a bag of food. We will be further helping our environment and our neighbors, as the food collected will be donated to a local food pantry.
Donations of fabric may also be dropped off at the library during the show.
The show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, on the second floor of the library. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Please stop by and say hello. I’m sure you will be delighted and surprised with what we have done with your donated fabric.
